Spring fling
Well, Club President Wayne finally got the weather gods to cooperate after some initial difficulties that caused the double postponement of the original event.

The cruise got under way starting at Core Creek Park - a special park with two separate entrances and unconnected roadways causing a couple of drivers some quandaries trying to find the meet. Worse yet, the nav systems all point to the main entrance and not to the tennis courts where we meet. We were graced with the presence of not one but TWO Shinka RX-8's with their dark wild cherry paint and cream interiors. Very pretty indeed! Aftermarket mods are still being added - alloy wheels, snow tires, air intakes, cat backs, ECU mods, strakes, bras, trunk liners, oil cooler and air conditioner condenser screens, and NAV devices abound. No turbos or superchargers showed up yet despite all the buzz on the Internet forums.

The weather was fabulous but due to the late date, many more drivers were out on the road making a cruise of 14 "8"'s tough to keep together. The floodwaters have subsided and although the repairs are still underway, the town of New Hope, PA was apparently THE place to be - after all, 2000 motorcyclists can't be wrong. Parking proved to be a challenge although we got a curious break at a New Hope Catholic church that was only a short trek from the Havanna Restaurant.

We had such a good showing (14 RX-8's) that we inundated the Havanna's restaurant who couldn't handle the crowds, so we quickly dropped back to plan B - Guiseppi's Pizza Restaurant in Newtown, PA. We were accorded a back room where we could dine and chat without chasing other customers out. Their menu was nicely varied and the food tasty and filling. Parking was spacious and allowed for all 14 to park together - PHOTO OP!

The group scattered from Guiseppi's with some staying nearby, others heading for Isaac Newton's bar and the rest split for homes. A cluster of three 8's followed me at a conservative pace back to NJ.

All in all, a fine time was had, kicking off what promises to be another delightful season of meets, thanks to the executive committee.
